As a 20 year old kid getting into cbs and me having multiple issues with grounding and now led headlight interference, which i’m still trying to fix this video has been super helpful, I have the exact same transmitter in my 2nd gen Nissan frontier, and I have a hustler 102” whip antenna which I am not using, I bought because I live in the Appalachian mountains but it is not practical, I also have a 3’ firstik and was unsure how to tune it so that’s how I can across this video. This was a life saver ngl I haven’t found many videos this short and precise, well done and you got a sub from me for sure!😮‍💨🤘

Wow ! Just installed radio and no dash or tail lights. The orange wires seemed capped with butt connectors. Tight fit , no doubt i grounded one out during install. My fear was bulb replacement. Thanks for posting ! Fixed now. edit All these years and i never had a clue my 97 4runner is made for double din install. Love that $1.20 satelite subscription for 3 mos. !!

I had just replaced the radio in my daughters 92 Trecel and had the same blown fuse issue. Mine was the green wire with silver marks. Thanks so much

Thank you for the video thats exactly what happended to me last night after installing a doubledin in my Tacoma. lol i did used the orange wire since it said iit was a dimmer signal wire so i thoght it will dim screen or control the radio lights with oem dimmer, crazy !! i will cut that wire today.

Never EVER use us CA glue or superglue on the headlights. the acrylic will turn white and make it worse.

For anyone confused, you cut the ground wire it half (the red one on top) you extend one end to a two prong switch, then wire the other cut end to the same switch to the other prong on the switch. Make sure you have 2 separate wires running to the switch, not 1 just spliced into 2, 2 SEPARATE WIRES. Once you get it all wired up here’s how you change from abs and vsc to no abs and vsc. You turn the 4runner on in the position that you want, but In order to change it you have to first flip the switch, then turn the key off, take the key out, put the key back in, and then start it up and when they are both turned off the abs and both Vsc lights should come on but when they are both activated the lights should be off

Just bought a 1999 and yep, prior owner plugged the connector into the dummy port. Prior dude made the same mistake during the stereo install. Thanks for sharing.

What was the name of the fuse to replace

Five years later and this video help me. Thanks! Was replacing my antenna and when I pulled the radio I saw the orange wire hanging loose. Of course I connected it, because why not, and the next day realized I didnt have instrument panel lights. Blew the fuse.

This just happened today with my 96 Tacoma, which fuse was it?

What I did to "calibrate" my radio to my 3' firstik is to check 1 and 40 and adjust the meter til its almost similar on both ends. Not one side being on the line and the otherside close to it. Make them both equal. Then check your tuning. I bet you can get it properly calibrated if you do that. I did it your way when I first got my kit put together, and I havent seen your video til today, but I did the same exact thing. After a while of playing around with my tuning to get it as best as possible, I managed to get it balanced on 1 and 40 on both the calibrate setting and the tuning setting. Am currently at 1.4 on both 1 and 40 and 1.2 on 19/20.
